Ralph Vaughn Williams
Fascinating fact: “In Renaissance painters such as Domenico Ghirlandaio the lark symbolizes Christ, in reference to John 16:16.” From Wiki article “lark”, reference: Jeanne K. Cadogan’s book Domenico Ghirlandaio: artist and artisan, Yale U. Press, p. 215.
“A little while, and you will no longer see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me.” NASB95
Of his own compositions, Mr. Williams’s favorite was the opera Pilgrim’s Progress. He loved the choral works of Johann Sebastian Bach and often conducted them.
Great art, both the picture and the music!
